Meet Scorpion

Here are the details for this mode. Four complete King-to-Ace runs clear the game. The tableau has seven columns. Moves build down in the same suit rather than allowing cross-suit destinations. Scorpion on meloneat.com uses one 52-card deck with four suits.

Read the opening cards

Here are the details for this mode. The first three cards in each of the first four columns are face down. Three cards remain in the stock. Each opening column contains seven cards for a total of 49 tableau cards. All cards in the last three columns are face up.

Build in the same suit

Here are the details for this mode. A King cannot land on another card because no higher rank exists. A seven of hearts cannot land on an eight of spades. A moved group's leading card must land on a card exactly one rank higher in the same suit. A seven of hearts can land on an exposed eight of hearts.

Order within a group may vary

The following details apply here. The selected cards do not need to share a suit to travel together. The selected cards do not need to descend in rank to travel together. Any face-up card can be selected together with every card beneath it. The leading selected card still has to meet the destination rule.

Only Kings fill empty space

An empty column accepts a King or a group led by a King. An empty column is therefore less flexible than an empty column in ordinary Spider. A group led by a lower rank cannot enter an empty column. Cards beneath a moved King do not need to be in sequence.

Uncover another choice

The following details apply here. An exposed card can carry the cards beneath it when its own destination is legal. Removing all face-up cards above a hidden card turns that hidden card face up. The next hidden card is revealed automatically. Undo restores the earlier hidden-card arrangement when the move is reversed.

The final three cards

The stock contains one final deal of three cards. There are no further stock cards after the three-card deal. Dealing places a face-up card on each of the first three columns. This Scorpion version permits its stock deal when columns are empty.

Collect ordered runs

The following details apply here. Moving an unordered group does not make that group a completed sequence. A completed run must descend from King to Ace in one suit. The game removes a qualifying run automatically from the bottom of a column. All thirteen cards in a collected run must be face up.

Practice Scorpion decisions

A move can carry unwanted cards along with a useful leading card. Checking the whole moved group helps you anticipate what will become blocked. Replay and Undo let you explore another approach to the same layout. Hint lists legal choices without promising a winning continuation.
